Italy, Spain, Greece… where would you go?

After a 56% drop last year due to COVID restrictions, travel apps are experiencing a sharp increase in Q2 2021. On the AppStore, travel apps recorded 61 million downloads while on Google Play they reached 24 million.

27% of all travel app downloads were on 3 apps: Hopper, Booking and Travelocity; an increase of 81% compared to 2019. Skyscanner saw its downloads fall by 78% during the COVID period and then return to strong growth (69%) in Q2 2021.

Other means of travel have also seen a marked increase after the restrictions were lifted. This is particularly the case for e-bike sharing apps such as Bird and Lime, which recorded 630k and 570k downloads respectively.
