Consumers spend more in apps since the pandemic

Are you using your phone more than before the pandemic?

According to SensorTower, in the second half of 2021, the use of medical and finance apps has increased by 53% and 36% respectively. Over the past year, consumers have been spending more time on their mobile devices.

In the first half of 2020, users interacted with 47 apps per month, then with the start of the COVID19 pandemic, they interacted with 48 apps per month. Finally, in the first half of 2021, there was a slight decrease as they now use 46 apps per month.

With the pandemic and the development of needs of communication and remote work such as video conferencing applications like Zoom, business apps have grown by 37%; users used 0.71 business applications per month in 2019 compared to 0.97 in the second quarter of 2020.

Gaming apps accounted for the largest share of apps used in 2019 but fell sharply in 2021 (33%).
